Narnia Day!

Cambrie's class spent the entire day in the world of Narnia to celebrate the opening of the new movie “Prince Caspian.” For the first part of the day, students focused on the first C.S. Lewis book “The Magician’s Nephew” with a scavenger hunt set in WWII London. The second half of the day, students focused on “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” After a short blitz, students were tagged and sent on a train to the countryside. Once in the countryside, students walked through the wardrobe into Narnia (music and science classes). Students then watched teachers freeze things with nitrogen and then learned to play the recorder. Following that the kids had Turkish delight, tea and crumpets and tree bark snacks. Along with meeting Aslan, they met the White Witch, the Beavers, Mr. Tumnus, Ginarrbrik, and Father Christmas. At the end of the day they had The great battle (flour dodgeball). They had parents come dress in black to battle against the kids. It was awesome! Rob took the day off to be in the battle and watch the kids while I helped in the morning. What a great Dad! :)

Cambrie's teacher and parents have been preparing for most of the year for "Narnia" day. I have been helping the last couple of months in the preparations and got talked into dressing up as Ms. Lafae (a crazy old woman) and help deliver their invitations(a secret box). Don't ask me why I agreed to this. The things you will do for your kids. It actually ended up being really fun to see their faces.

Isn't this amazing. A mother of one of the students spent over 100 hours on this. She also made a big wardrobe.

This post doesn't do the day justice. It was absolutely amazing! What a great day for the kids!

O.K. First of all, WOW. Second of all, what in the heck did she make the huge lion out of?
I can't believe all the time and effort put into this day.
I'll bet the kids just LOVED it.
